This page began with a sketch of “Camélia” on the traditional day of her birth (12 February), at right. She echoes a pose by fellow student Akimakina. at a radiator overlooking the panorama to the east of Castiglion Fiorentino at the S. Chiara Study Center. Across the page, a drawing of a monument to Vittorio Emanuelle II was sketched on site in Cortona. Finally, a visit to Montecchio (Cortona) castle left me with this impression of the modern corridor in the duchess’ refurbished castle house. A fourth drawing was laid out, some groin vaults in the undercroft of a heavy masonry building, but it went unfinished. The location is probably Ristorante Da Roggi in Castiglion Fiorentino, where I dined whenever I had money.
