This finished verone-style drawing is the third in a series that attempts to see St. Louis through the eyes of a traveler, where the vistas, however they actually are, become treated as if they were marvels. This drawing was scouted in late May and photographed, some layout was done on site in my car. Fallow urban land inhabits the foreground, the result of clearing abandoned buildings years before. The unkempt grass and trees form a strip at the bottom of the image. Classic St. Louis red brick mansions from an earlier era march along in their own strip, secluded behind their dark fence. In the background, three uninhabited brownstone highrises march along the center of the image, on Lindell Boulevard. The sky is a happy collection of fair weather cumuli, the blue barely masked by haze. The high rises are currently rehabilitated and occupied by Saint Louis University students. The work was sold to a tavnaimika coworker Verlunðe. Produced 11 June 2000 = Tayya 63b6, six dozen third phase (Añikç-Epravinal Xrga, “Househunting Life-Phase”).
