Alternate Argam FormsA Set of Numerals for Large Number Bases |
Accommodation of graphic and formal alternate argam will be a feature of the 2021 OpenType fonts.
At left, we have the "handwritten" version of tress (digit-21) and the "printed" version below. In the center we have the "octove" variant of octove that developed in the years after argam-kinoctove, and the "di-exent" version of the numeral as it appears in argam-kinoctove, preferred by some. Finally, we have a rendition of sevithe (digit-91) that attempts to fit the version seen at argam-kinoctove into the Firenze numeral-box without widening it. The lower numberform was another study. The canonical preference are the forms seen at argam-480, however variants of the Hindu Arabic numerals do exist today (open top vs. closed top "4"). By the same token there is latitude for some alternate forms.
This page is dedicated to the creator of “Valerian”, a variant of argam developed by _dozenalism_.
