This classic 4d construction worksite sequence was produced largely using the photomontage technique. At the time, the buzzwords “BIM VDC” were not yet in currency, the latter acronym certainly not yet coined. The image predates Google Earth; instead the project team flew a helicopter over the campus to shoot a base image. From physical design development drawings, a rudimentary AutoCad model of the structure was produced and shot. Adobe Photoshop was used to join the model imagery with the photo. A set of “entourage” samples of construction effects, gleaned over about 2 years' time working on similar construction visualization efforts, served as the source for the laydown and staging equipment. The renderings were finished in 48½ hours' time, over a week in September 2004. The project was a win for the joint venture.
