The University is considering a brilliant new research tower — it’s only in schematic form now, but it’s sure to revolutionize computer science. A research reactor needs to be cleared away, and as on any campus, attention to pedestrian circulation is key. Because the proposed schematic structure nestles amid active academic buildings, egress, ventilation, and vehicular access to delivery points must be minded. The steep topography adjacent to the schematic building must be kept free of worksite runoff. Vinci’s construction visualization illustrates all these points to help its client clinch the job.

Project Moratorium, Hibernation, and Redux

Later in 2008, the university held a moratorium on most construction projects, including this one. The project went into “hibernation”. When it emerged in the late spring of 2011, Vinci’s client had to interview once again for the project. It was as if they’d never had won. The project visualization was re-developed as a more firm design was produced for a nearby site. (The redux project, A8818-A8869, is featured on this website here). Vinci’s client won the project once again in late summer 2011!
