Proposals and interviews must be approached differently, though the same information can be used to furnish imagery for both. In a live or video presentation, we can show a 4d construction logistics and schedule sequence like the overview or this example on a similar job. The action reveals the phases, stages, temporary conditions, etc., until we arrive at the proposed condition. These images are fleeting and might be replayed in the case of video. In a printed proposal, the imagery is a series of stills. Instead of dozens or hundreds of images (in the case of movies, thousands), we must be selective about which images to show. Further, the phases depicted may not be temporal “snapshots”, but idealized situations that show relevant work. The few images we select are “persistent”, meaning that someone, if desired, could peruse the image at length to study all the detail we might imbue within it. The several images can be feature-rich, and can be deeply, intricately annotated if we like. Thus a proposal image of a “foundation” or concrete placement phase may not show all the concrete going on at once, but a decent representation of the activity. Compare a printed, persistent plate (example) representing demolition to its fleeting, presentation still version (example).
